Academic Qualifications

Completed the Jordanian high school diploma in the scientific stream in 1981, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Sciences, specializing in Plant Protection, from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Jordan in 1985.

Master's Degree

Received a Master of Science degree from the University of Jordan in 1988.

PhD in Apiculture

In the same year, enrolled in the doctoral program at the Institute of Beekeeping at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany, and received a PhD in Apiculture in 1993.

Academic Career

Was appointed at the Faculty of Agriculture, Jordan University of Science and Technology immediately after returning from Germany in 1993.

Academic Promotions

Was promoted to Associate Professor in 2001, and in 2008 was promoted to the rank of Professor specializing in Bee Sciences.

Scientific Publications

During the academic career, published more than 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed and ranked international scientific journals.

Scientific Book

Published a book in 2017 entitled “Managing Bee Colonies in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions”.

Current Research Focus

Current research focuses on studying the impact of climate change, especially rising temperatures, on honeybees, particularly the local bee strain, in order to identify the best physical treatments for improving the tolerance and performance of honeybees when exposed to hot weather or heat waves.

Heat Stress Research: Six scientific papers have been published in this research area in peer-reviewed international journals, all ranked Q1 according to Scopus. The studies demonstrated improved performance of worker bees when their queens were treated with non-lethal heat shocks.
